March, 2005 News Letter

Message from the President: Yes, Spring is here, but Winter doesn't want to leave us yet. Record rainfall in the past weeks and several feet of new snow, to the delight of skier's, and it's time again for Spring clean up. We are still in the Open burn season for at least another month. Remember to phone Air Pollution Control Board for the Burn Days at 754-6600.

1. You need a 100 ft clearance from structures.

2. Keep trees and shrubs pruned - trees should be pruned 6-10 ft from the ground.

3. Dispose of cuttings and debris properly.

4. Keep gutters, eaves and roof clear of leaves and debris.

5. Clear dead wood and dense vegetation within at least 100 ft from your house and move firewood away from the house.

6. Take out ladder fuels - vegetation that serves as a link between grass (weeds) and tree tops - these fuels can carry fire from vegetation to a structure or from a structure to the vegetation.

Calaveras County this past year, combined with Tuolumne County had over $1O million in fire related damages, charring over 7,800 acres. Some of the damage may have been avoided if fire prevention measures were enacted.

Mike Willemsen did repairs to the Bus Stop Shelter in November 2004 and in December it was again damaged. Please tell the children to not destroy what is a convenience for them.

The Board is still waiting for more homeowners to get involved with the HOA. If you have spare time, please come to the meetings. Volunteer or give us your thoughts on where you want the Association to go in the future.

We need an Assistant Pool Manager (Gaylord will train you and identify the responsibilities). We also need a Program Director for Pool Parties and Pool Supervisors for the Summer. We'll need help in May to get the pool ready - painting, cleaning, etc. Please contact Alice Taylor at 728-3203 or email to lerovt@goldrush.com or drop a note to us at P O Box 722, Arnold.
